Solutions — Frequently Asked Questions
How EGCA's three-phase methodology runs in practice.
Diagnostic (6–12 weeks) is an on-site assessment that quantifies the operational opportunity through a loss-tree analysis, baseline measurement and prioritised intervention list. Implementation (3–18 months) installs the management operating system, KPIs, daily routines and frontline coaching that turn the diagnostic findings into measurable bottom-line results. Sustainability (6–12 months) is a coaching phase in which EGCA hands ownership back to the client, embeds continuous-improvement routines and exits without the gains regressing.
A full Diagnostic + Implementation + Sustainability cycle typically runs 12–30 months depending on operation size, geographic spread and complexity. Single-site mining or processing engagements can complete in 12 months. Multi-site capital project programmes or supply-chain rebuilds usually run 18–30 months. The Diagnostic phase always lands first so scope, ROI and team commitment are agreed before larger Implementation budgets are committed.
ROI is measured against an agreed loss-tree baseline captured during the Diagnostic phase. Each intervention carries a quantified financial target (e.g. AISC reduction in $/oz, throughput uplift in tonnes/month, working-capital release in days) and weekly variance is reported against actual production data, not consultant estimates. Track-record figures referenced on this site — $170/oz AISC reduction, 230kt/month throughput, R1bn recurring annual benefit — were measured this way and validated by client finance teams.
Implementation work is on-site by default. EGCA consultants embed with operations and frontline supervision teams to install the management operating system, run daily KPI routines and coach in-the-moment. Remote support is used for the Diagnostic data analysis, periodic steering committees and Sustainability-phase coaching once the client team has full ownership. Hybrid arrangements are available where travel constraints apply, but the implementation phase requires on-the-floor presence to make routines stick.
The Sustainability phase exists for exactly this reason. Before exit, EGCA transfers ownership of every routine — daily/weekly/monthly management cadence, KPI dashboards, root-cause-analysis rituals — to a named client owner. Capability gaps are closed via on-the-job coaching plus formal SOPs. EGCA returns at agreed intervals (typically 30 / 60 / 90 days post-exit) to audit routine adherence, and a six-month residual measurement against the loss-tree baseline confirms gains have held.
The methodology was built for heavy industry where bottom-line value comes from physical throughput, unit cost and asset reliability — primarily mining and mineral processing, oil & gas, manufacturing, heavy construction, logistics and energy/utilities. The same diagnostic-implementation-sustainability arc applies to capital project optimisation and supply-chain rebuilds. It is not a fit for pure-software, retail-SaaS or marketing-led engagements where the value lever is brand or pricing rather than operations.
